The Northeastern University Security Studies Collaborative Research Cluster is pleased to announce the first Annual Boston International Security Graduate Conference, to be held on February 23, 2018.
Who should attend? The goal of this conference is to give graduate students a chance to brainstorm emerging research projects or receive feedback on papers prior to journal submission from faculty and peers. We welcome presentations from graduate students or post-doctoral fellows from any institution. In addition to those who have work to present, we also welcome graduate students, faculty, practitioners, and undergraduates who wish to listen in and ask questions in order to get a taste of cutting-edge international security research in a small relaxed workshop setting, free of charge.

Research + CommunityIn addition to the research-centric goals of the BISGC, we will offer ample opportunity to meet and socialize with fellow graduate students and faculty over lunch and between sessions. We are explicitly interested in fostering both horizontal and vertical networking, with the hope of producing co-authoring, mentoring, and professional relationships.
The BISGC offers two types of paper presentations: late-stage research to prepare papers for publication, and early-stage research brainstorming sessions to guide data collection, theoretical framing, and analysis. |
We are eager to engage with a broad definition of security issues and actors, from a variety of geographic contexts, and are particularly interested in the following subcategories:
- Civil Wars and Intrastate Violence
- Non-State Actors and Non-Traditional Security Threats
- International Security Alliances
- Intelligence Agencies
- Bridging Policy and Academic Gaps
- Methodology Challenges in Conflict Analysis
- Intervention, Peacekeeping, and Sanctions
- Teaching Conflict
Sponsored by the Northeastern University Security Studies Collaborative Research Cluster & the Department of Political Science
